Combating poverty
Category : Ahmadiyya
The following quotes are from Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad (atba)
“We, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat, have a passionate desire to serve humanity and whilst we do not have huge resources, still the members of our community give generously in alms, according to their abilities, out of a desire for piety and in an effort to relieve the pain and suffering of humanity. Under the supervision and management of our Jamaat, many schools, hospitals, orphanages and various other projects are being established and administered in the poorer countries of the world. Our services are rendered irrespective of religious, ethnic or social background.” (Baitul Ghafoor Mosque Opening, UK, 22 March 2012)
“Islam teaches that the world’s natural resources are the combined property and wealth of all of mankind…The vast treasures that Allah the Almighty has endowed, both above and below the earth, are not just for a few selected individuals but are for the benefit of every single person, in every part of the world…The poor must fulfil their own responsibilities and work hard in order to benefit from their resources and wealth. On the other hand, the rich should happily display a true spirit of sacrifice in order to help their brothers and sisters.” (Singapore Reception, 7 November 2013)
“People and weaker nations are being financially enslaved, whereby those in desperate need are forced to take loans with unjust conditions attached, which enchain them in a cycle of despair. The unjust conditions include forcing weaker countries to abide by certain policies or forcing upon them political deals that are not in their long-term interests… Islam entirely condemns and rejects this type of slavery and bondage.” (Baitul Muqeet Mosque Opening, New Zealand, 7 November)
“Whenever and wherever we have been called to help and assist in good endeavours or in service to humanity, we have always heeded the call and come running to partake in those good acts.” (Baitul Wahid Mosque Opening, UK, 27 February 2012)
